YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT

Your physiotherapist will need to clearly assess and treat the affected area, so please wear appropriate clothing:

- Knee conditions: shorts or clothing that can be rolled above the knee
- Shoulder conditions: loose clothing that allows easy access to the shoulder

Your initial appointment will focus on a thorough assessment.

This includes:
- Discussing your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle
- Identifying factors that aggravate or ease your pain
- Understanding how your condition affects your daily activities

Your physiotherapist will then carry out a physical examination, which may include:
- Movement and range of motion testing
- Strength testing
- Specific joint or muscle assessments

Following this, you will receive:
- A personalised treatment plan
- Advice on recovery and expected timelines
- A home exercise programme (usually provided at the first session if this is needed)

If time allows, treatment may also begin during your first appointment.

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

Your exercise programme is usually sent via email through a platform called Wibbi within 24 hours of your appointment.

Please check your spam/junk folder, as emails can sometimes be filtered there.

If you still haven’t received it, please contact us and we will resend it.

It is normal to experience some mild discomfort or soreness, especially in the early stages of rehabilitation.

However, exercises should not cause sharp or severe pain. If pain persists or worsens, please contact us. We can review your programme and adjust it if needed.

OTHER SERVICES

Acupuncture involves the use of very fine needles and is generally painless or only mildly uncomfortable.

After treatment, you may experience soreness around the site for a few hours or up to 2 days afterwards.

Possible side effects may include swelling or bruising at the needle site, dizziness and nausea.

If any symptoms persist or you have concerns, please to your physiotherapist beforehand or contact us for advice.

Shockwave therapy (also known as extracorporeal shockwave therapy) is a non-invasive treatment used to help reduce long-term pain.

It works by delivering high-energy sound waves to the affected area of the body. These waves stimulate the body’s natural healing processes.

Shockwave therapy may cause mild discomfort during treatment, particularly over sensitive areas.

Soreness, redness, or bruising around the treated area for a few hours up to 2 days is normal.

If any symptoms persist or you have concerns, contact us for advice.

Cupping therapy helps to release muscle tension and improve blood flow.

It can cause temporary red circular marks on the skin, which may last from a few days up to 3 weeks after the session.

Please avoid showering or bathing for at least 2 hours after treatment.

Deep tissue and sports massage are techniques that target deeper layers of muscle to relieve tension, improve mobility, and aid recovery from strain or injury.

Aftercare includes drinking plenty of water, resting, and avoiding intense exercise for about 24 hours to let your muscles recover.

You may feel some soreness afterward, which is normal and can be eased with gentle stretching or a warm bath.
